How to make money on TikTok: LIVE gifts, Creator Rewards and donations

How to make money on TikTok: LIVE gifts, the Creator Rewards Program, subscriptions, brand deals and direct donations, with requirements and what you keep.

TikTok offers several ways to make money, but they work very differently from Twitch. Most of the money runs through TikTok's own systems, with their own requirements and their own conversion. Here is how each source works and what you keep.

1. LIVE gifts

During a LIVE, viewers buy coins and send gifts. You receive diamonds, which TikTok converts to money. TikTok keeps a significant share, and you must be 18 or older to receive gifts. Gifts are therefore not euros you can add up one to one. More in TikTok LIVE donations in real money.

2. Creator Rewards Program

This program pays for views on videos of at least one minute. Requirements include being 18 or older, 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days and a personal account in good standing. It is not available in every country; Creator Tools shows whether it is open to you.

3. LIVE subscriptions

Viewers can subscribe monthly for badges, emotes and exclusive content. Age and account requirements set by TikTok per region apply here too.

4. Brand deals and TikTok Shop

Brands pay for videos or LIVE mentions, and TikTok Shop pays a commission on products. Both work best with a clear niche and an engaged audience.

5. Direct donations through your own link

A donation link works outside TikTok, with no follower threshold and no coin conversion. Viewers choose an amount in euros and pay on your DonoLink page. DonoLink charges 3.5% per successful donation; Stripe charges processing costs separately. Put the link in your bio if your account can show one, or mention it during your LIVE. A gift stays a TikTok event and never counts as a donation in DonoLink.

Calculate per source

Track the gross and net amount for each source every month. TikTok pays gifts and Creator Rewards under its own rules; donations arrive through Stripe. TikTok income is usually taxable. The streamer income guide has worked examples.

Frequently asked questions

How many followers do you need to make money on TikTok?

For the Creator Rewards Program TikTok requires, among other things, 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days and an age of 18 or older. Creator Tools shows whether the program is available in your country. Direct donations have no follower threshold.

Are TikTok gifts real money?

Not directly. Viewers buy coins, send gifts and you receive diamonds that TikTok converts under its own rules, so you never see the full amount the viewer paid.

Can I share a donation link on TikTok?

Yes, for example in your bio if your account can show a link, or verbally during your LIVE. Follow TikTok's community guidelines.
